Apparently the team is in full mutiny after management went AWOL for the auction and much of the season thus far, underperforming in almost every imaginable way. As a result, we're now 16 games out, which means it's time to pull the plug and start looking to 2018 (when real life will hopefully allow for greater attention as well).

Most likely candidates (limited long-term value) to be dealt include:

OF Michael Saunders: 558 PA of 253/338/478 hitting with Av range in CF (as well as LF/RF) and a reverse platoon split. $6 salary should fit onto any roster.

OF Robbie Grossman: destroys lefties to the tune of 344/418/576, not awful against righties (242/367/362), putting up a solid real-life season but could be moved nonetheless.

OF Melvin Upton: platoon CF, 275/341/533 v LHP with Av range in CF.

UT Brock Holt: utility guy with a 279/336/426 line against righties, Av ratings at SS/2B/3B/LF/RF and plenty of PT to finish the season in a platoon role.

SP Kevin Gausman: 3.61 ERA, reverse platoon split to exploit against lefty-heavy lineups.

SP/RP Chris Devenski: swing rating makes him an elite SP for another 8-10 starts (but not post-season rotation eligible).

RP Kelvin Herrera: 2.75 ERA, slight reverse split, great bullpen piece.


We'll also listen on the following, though we have them as clear keepers so won't move cheaply:

OF Starling Marte: great all-around OF (311/362/456, Vg LF/Av CF w/ Ex arm) who lost half of 2017 to suspension; just started rehab/tune-up, likely back very soon.

OF Stephen Piscotty: see above (273/343/457, Vg RF/Av CF, though Pr arm), playing OK in 2017 but not setting the world on fire.

SP Max Scherzer: stud in 2016 but with a bigger platoon split, even better in 2017 and an obvious keeper (I would have LTC'd him if not AWOL) but will consider moving him.

1B Freddie Freeman: 302/400/569 w/ Ex defense at 1B; utterly insane to open 2017 (he's STILL Top 25 for WAR with 2.6 despite missing half the season thus far), got hurt, now coming back as a 3B.

SS Trea Turner: 342/370/567, Av 2B/CF & Fr SS, still has 250+ PA remaining, $18 salary makes him a long-term stud even with his wrist injury this year.

2B/SS Cesar Hernandez: 294/371/393, Av 2B/SS, putting up another solid season in 2017 and looking like a cheap regular for the foreseeable future but since 2016 may be his best year we'll consider letting someone else take advantage of it.

C Tucker Barnhart: 271/344/400 v RHP, like Hernandez looks like a cheap long-term keeper but would consider moving for a higher-upside piece.
