Post-Season Awards

Do we do them in this league? Should we?

We don't, but there is absolutely no reason not to.

I have yet to actively participate in post-season awards for any of my leagues because DMB fails, FAILS, to include home and road splits in their reports. Screw them.

Sorry Greg, not sure I understand your comment.

Are you saying that since DMB doesn't give us the home/road split, we can't properly evaluate players? Can't you just use total H/R runs scored to estimate park effects?

In any case, this would just be a fun diversion. Not sure we need to worry about precision.

Good points. Though I suppose I'm referring to my historical league, as we've yet to vote on awards for our 1924-1954 seasons or a Hall of Fame, and likely because I am not motivated to do so given the lack of home and road splits.

I suppose we could use park effect estimates with simulated data, but I'm being stubborn.

I wasn't even thinking anything that sophisticated.

I was just thinking something like each team nominates one of their own for MVP, Cy Young and RoY. We circulate a spreadsheet with the DMB stats, and we vote (can't vote for your own guys).

Wasn't really concerned if people looked beyond BA/HR/RBI :-)

I mean, Mike Trout probably had the most WAR is his league, but that's no fun.

Trout is having an absolutely monster season. 322/399/562, 132 runs scored, 76 extra based hits, first in both leagues in runs created, all while playing centerfield in an extreme pitchers park in an extreme pitchers division.

Max Scherzer and Matt Harvey are pretty clear Cy Young winners.

So there are three of your award winners.

Well, thanks for sucking all the fun out of that idea, Gaelan.
