Despite forgetting to reset our rotation, Siskiyou sweeps! Yep. Cotton, Feldman, and Gsellmen, all lead to wins, the last game against deGrom.
Game One was lopsided. Home team scored four in the first, and it took the visitors until the eighth to score, as Colome gave up a pair after Cotton and Shaw held them scoreless. JT Realmuto went 4-5, with two doubles, a HR, and even a run scoring groundout. Steve Pearce, fresh off the DL, went 2-3 with four RBI and a HR. Osuna closes it out and Rotisserie wins 9-2.
Game Two was far more dramatic. Started rough for Feldman. Two infield and a line drive single in put two on with one runner scored. JT Martinez then singled in another runner. Fortunately Carlos Gomez ground into a 6-4-3 double play, to keep it at two runs. But the Rotisserie responded in the bottom of the inning, with leadoff hitter Eddie Rosario taking a 1-1 pitch deep to right center, Hosmer doubling in Bogearts, and a sac fly from Heyward to bring in Hosmer, to make it 3-2 Siskiyou. Feldman and Diamond Jaxx starter JC Ramirez traded zeroes for a couple innings, before they first tied it in the fourth off a HR from Butera, then took the lead in the fifth, starting with a Realmuto error allowing JD Martinez to reach, then a steal of 2nd (???), before Pennington lined a triple down the right field line, giving the visitors a lead. Butera later grounded out to short for the inning's second out, scoring Pennington. Rotisserie fought back in the fifth, again tying the game, off Pearce's two run HR. Pat Neshek held the visitors off the board for the 7th and 8th, and then unlikeliest of heros Jason Heyward took Diamond Jaxx reliever Rogers deep to give Siskiyou the edge. Osuna again came on for the ninth, and Rotisserie winds 6-5.
I was very pleased to win the first two games. A 2-1 series with these starters and some big holes in my lineup sounded great. Of course, with Gsellman going against deGrom, I hadn't a prayer in Game Three. Game started off with some tit for tat. JD Martinez doubled in a run for the visitors in the first, and then a leadoff walk to Rosario and a Bogearts double led to a run when Hosmer grounded out. Gsellmen struck back with his own leadoff walk, and then following some annoying rain, two bunts and an infield single gave the visitors a 2-1 lead. That only lasted until the bottom of the third, when Siskiyou again tied it up, this time with a Rosario HR to lead off the inning. Then the incredible happened. Bottom of the Fourth, the Rotisseries scored two more runs off deGrom, with two singles, the latter by Hechavarria scoring Addison Russel, and a Rosario double, scoring Hechavarria. 4-2 Siskiyou. Meanwhile Gsellman was throwing up zeroes. Despite being an awful pitcher, he went five innings, with just the two runs, on five hits, striking out four, and walking two. Peter Moylan, Josh Hader, and Mychal Givens shut the Diamond Jaxx down for the final four innings. Realmuto's fifth inning HR was the final run scored, for a 5-2 win, as Siskiyou completes the sweep over Wichita.
