Whitecaps-Aces
craigburley - May 17, 2014 10:49AM
The Caps got two very fine pitching performances sandwiched around a 10-3 win to sweep the series. In Game 1, new callup David Hale threw five innings of one-hit, shutout ball and the bullpen of Duensing, Casilla and Janssen brought the game home without further damage as the Caps won 2-0 with a one-hit combined shutout.

In Game 3, veteran Hiroki Kuroda duplicated Hale's feat, throwing five innings and allowing one hit as the Whitecaps raced to an 8-0 lead. Duensing and Nick Vincent brought the Caps home for another one-hit combined shutout.

It's not known if another TRHL team has thrown two one-hitters in a three-game series before.

Canons @ Hares
Gaelan - May 17, 2014 05:13PM
Game one was a crazy good game. With Goldschmidt on the bench with a nagging injury and Trout getting a nick early and having to leave the game the Hares bench was very short. Trailing 3-2 in the seventh Adam Jones hit a solo homerun to tie the game. From there neither lineup could get a key hit (the bottom four of the Hares didn't have a single guy with a real life OBP higher than .300). Finally, in the bottom of the 13th pitcher Juan Perez singled David Wright home to win the game 4-3.

In game two, Adam Jones was the hero again as he hit a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the eighth off of Shaun Marcum who was kept in one batter too long. Hares win 6-5.

The starting pitching for both sides was poor in game three but the Hares got just a few more hits to win 7-5 and complete the sweep.

Adam Jones is the story of the first third of the season for the Hares. 326/342/637, 18 HR, 47 RBI.

Glovers @ Marauders
ChrisC - May 18, 2014 09:35PM
Another extra-inning affair in Game 1, so Harvey goes the distance in Game 2 to give the bullpen a breather, then Glovers take the finale to avert the sweep.
