Damage come into Alston for 3, looking to reverse their early season doldrums.

Beckett takes mound for Thunder Bay vs Alston's Jaime Garcia. Garcia goes the distance but gives up 5 runs on just 6 hits as both Kemp and Tulo take him deep. Beckett scrapes through the sixth scatters 6 hits and giving up just two runs and Damage bullpen controls the last 3 frames for the 5-2 Damage win.

Jiminez for TB vs Kazmir for Alston. Jiminez strong through seven giving up two runs on Eric Chavez's HR while a Mayberry HR and Kemp double stake him to 4 runs. Lead holds til ninth, when Lake doubles in a pair to tie and Hunter singles in gamer. Alston 5-4

Rubber game features Grienke vs Alston ace Scherzer. Grienk yeilds 3 RHR to Chavez in first and 2 run job to Florimon (?) in second and heads for the showers. Tulo homers in 2 and 4th for Thunder Bay but damage is done as Shererzer ptiches through 8th and Alston wins 8-3.

O Flaherty out for 18 days.

Halifax took the first two 6-5 and 12-5 before dropping the getaway game 3-0 to Havana. Ivan Nova pitched a gem of a three-hit shutout for the Stogies in that one.

Fire Dogs @ Hares
Gaelan - April 19, 2014 10:42AM
Mismatch pitching matchup in game one pitting Jose Fernandez against Aaron Harang in game one. It followed the script, Fernandez had a no-hitter into the seventh and Adam Jones hit three home runs (11) as the Hares rolled 9-0.

In game two the Hares left the bases loaded in the first and third innings but still managed four runs. They played out the string from there for a 4-1 victory.

Game three was a good one. Freddy Garcia against A.J. Burnett. Garcia did what Garcia does giving up only two hits, both of them homeruns to Mike Napoli as the Firedogs jumped to a 3-0 lead. (As an aside Garcia has given up nine hits this year, six of them homerun). Trout tied the game in the fifth with a three run HR. Firedogs jumped back into the lead in the top of the eighth with an unearned run. But it's that kind of year for the Hares as David Wright hit a pinch-hit three run HR in the bottom of the inning to the opposite field to win the game 6-4.

Hares sweep.

Oxford takes 2 of 3 from Hamilton. Hamilton's MP is good for the next series.

Chinook lose two more
pdolwick - April 19, 2014 07:28PM
Based on real-life WAR, I thought I had a relatively certain playoff team. Instead ... on pace to lose 104 games. I must be missing something key to DMB.

I ran a bunch of sims throughout the auction. Based on that I thought there were five teams battling for four playoff spots, of which yours was one.

How the Chinook have performed this season has been a big surprise to me.

His schedule has been exceptionally brutal. 2/3 of his games have been against the other four teams who are likely to be contending for those playoff spots. I expect to see his team stage a furious comeback over the next month.
Don't pack in
craigburley - April 20, 2014 12:28PM
Pat last year I was dead and buried, 10 under .500 with just a couple months to go, and I rallied and made the playoffs and then the WS. Don't pack it in; you've had unlucky variance but there is plenty of space to go on a run. Good luck. I know the frustrations of early-season underperformance.
